Machinima used to pitch for major studio feature film

Interesting - John August reveals that he and the rest of the Prince of Persia movie team used a trailer made mostly of Machinima footage from the game to pitch to the studio execs - the pitch that got the movie made.

We’ve been saying this is possible for ages - but here’s proof.

(Also interesting that a lot of what we’ve talked about in the past has been creating the entire movie in Machinima first. Perhaps you just need a trailer?)

    Good to see - but let’s not forget that they were pitching a movie based on an established IP, which is not at all the same as pitching an original script.

    And sheesh - six years to get a movie made! It never ceases to amaze me how long things take.

    Yep. If anyone asks me why I don’t want to try to get movies made in Hollywood, I’ve got one answer - the pitching process. Six years for PoP, a lot longer for LotR - that’s half your life wasted trying to persuade people of something.
