Rarely has the category Machinima For Dummies Recommends been so appropriate. Phil “Overman” Rice’s music video for Radiohead’s Bodysnatchers is a brilliant example of the power of machinima and anymation.

It’s hard to imagine any other technique that would have allowed a film like this to have been made, and Phil has taken full advantage of Second Life, Moviestorm and a whole pallete-full of other packages to produce what is, for my money, one of the best pieces of pure, sensuous the-sky-is-no-longer-the-limit machinima that’s ever been released.

Bodysnatchers proves once and for all that Overman is one of the greatest assets this community possesses, and it’s a perfect example of why the man is – well, heck, I’ll say it – a bone fide genius.

Anyone interested in seeing just how flexible machinima can be should go watch Bodysnatchers right now. If you liked the video even a tenth as much as I did, do remember to vote for Overman in the AniBoom Radiohead Music Video Contest.

i don´t know how flexible this is, but i hope you enjoy F 4 FROGGER, a Conceptual 8bits machinima serie, revisiting Orson Welles´ ideas about art and life in F For Fake

Fiezi I think if you have a strong connection with the song it’s going to be tricky seeing someone else’s interpretation. Personally, I felt the emotion of the piece in relation to the dissonances of style. I guess everyone will see this differently.

really? I don’t know. I feel it lacks a coherent color palette and the dancing (in a radiohead song? It’s a personal thing i don’t think i can really argue about) seems a bit out of place. There are a couple of sequences i really like (the train), but the style seems very non-cohesive and a bit thrown together. Technically it’s quite-well done!
It’s an interesting piece, but calling it
“one of the best pieces of pure, sensuous the-sky-is-no-longer-the-limit machinima that’s ever been released.” is a bit heavy for me (thus my bring-it-down-to-earth comment).
I think the biggest reason it didn’t work for me is the fact that there is no thing in the film i can relate to in an emotional way (neither positive nor negative) whereas in the song there’s a lot of emotion…
